It's Labor Day Weekend, and although it's way too hot outside to grill our summer favorites, some of our favorite people came for a visit. My college roommate, Johanna, and her boyfriend, Jeff, made the 6 hour drive (avoiding the wildfires) to spend the extended weekend with us. Theron and I had a great time hanging out with the couple and attempting to show them around Phoenix. Jo - thanks driving us all around with your air-conditioned car! Here's a pic I stole from good ol' Facebook that takes us back 6 years ago to the first day we met. Good times with some great people!
Speaking of friends, we've been able to get to know some of the younger folk at the Valley Lutheran High/Christ Lutheran School community. In fact, there are 3 other young teaching couples in our apartment complex....almost seems like college living with friends just a few units over. We've been able to cheaply hang out by the pool at night and have occasionally checked out the local establishments. We can even claim to be 3rd place victors of trivia night at the pub!!
Theron has made it through the month number one of his first year teaching. Many of you reading this know how long a time a month can be for teachers and how much of an accomplishment it is for a rookie educator. He's certainly had some ups and downs, but if you ask me, he has handled them quite wisely. I'm very proud!
